Dale L Haake

November 3, 1937 — September 22, 2021

On Wednesday, September 22, 2021, at 2:29 pm, Dale Leroy Haake, loving husband and devoted father of two, peacefully passed away at the age of 83. Dale was preceded in death by his parents, Herman and Lydia, his in-laws Harry and Erma Nothwehr, his oldest brother Daryl, and his brother and sister-in-law, Don and Sherry Frank. He is survived by his wife Jean, his son Shawn (Tracy) Fort Dodge, IA, and his daughter Ranae, Denison, IA. Dale was blessed with three grandchildren: Allie Faircloth, Ty (Mary) Littzen, and Kaela Sasaki (Hiro), and six great grandchildren. Dale was born to Herman and Lydia Haake in a farmhouse just outside of Daykin Nebraska on November 3rd, 1937. Dale was the third of four children and spent his youth working on the family farm. It was there, on the open prairies of southern Nebraska, that he heard the calling to become a Lutheran school teacher. In 1959, he was awarded the Bachelor of Science in Education degree from Concordia Teachers College in Seward Nebraska. Concordia provided him with more than just an education; it was there that he met the love of his life, Jean Nothwehr, who was also preparing to become a Lutheran school teacher. They were married on the 10th day of July 1960. Dale was dedicated to the Lord. He was a devoted husband and father. He enjoyed gardening and taking care of his yard, but his real passion was for woodworking. Today, his craft lives on in buildings, houses, parks, and yards; he built decks and benches; toys and bird houses; he crafted beautiful picture frames that adorn the walls in many homes. He accepted no money for his work, and he received no accolades for his talent; you will not see his name engraved in stone or brass for the things he did. Rather, his passion served a higher purpose--selfless service to others. Funeral services will be held 10:30 AM on Monday, September 27th at St. Paul Lutheran Church. Burial will follow in North Lawn Cemetery in the St. Paul Section. A visitation will be on Sunday from 2:00 to 5:00 PM at Laufersweiler Funeral Home. Memorials may be left to Saint Paul Lutheran School Alzheimer's Association, Fort Dodge, or to the discretion of the family.
