Dan L. Dooley

Daniel L. Dooley, 81, of Fort Dodge, passed away Monday, August 8, 2016 at Trinity Regional Medical Center. A Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 13, 2016 at Sacred Heart Church with Msgr. Kevin McCoy officiating. Burial will be at Corpus Christi Cemetery. A visitation will be 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 13, 2016 at the church. Laufersweiler-Sievers Funeral Home is serving the family. He is survived by his wife, Alice; children, Danielle (Mick) Rathermel of Fort Dodge; Steve (Sue) Dooley of Grimes; Jim (Deb) Dooley of Fort Dodge; grandchildren, Cristey (Micah) Long; Madelynn and Julianna Long; Joe Rathermel; Allison and Connor Dooley; Daniel and Sophie Dooley; sister, Dyanne Duley of Atlanta, GA; sisters-in-law, Paralee Dooley of Fort Wayne, IN; Rosemary Connors of Overland Park; many nieces and nephews. Dan was preceded in death by his parents, Ronald and Helen (Nutting) Dooley; brothers, Keith and Stanley; sister, Norma Campbell-Austin; and granddaughter, Caitey. Daniel L. Dooley was born January 22, 1935 in Fort Dodge. He attended Fort Dodge Public Schools, graduating from Fort Dodge Senior High in 1953. He then attended Fort Dodge Junior College for two years. Daniel was united in marriage to Alice Connors on August 13, 1955. The couple made their home in Fort Dodge. Dan joined the Army Reserve in 1957 and received his Honorable Discharge in 1962. He worked at U.S. Gypsum of Fort Dodge for over 40 years, retiring in 1994. Daniel was a member of the Rifle and Pistol Club of Fort Dodge for 55 years. He was also a member of the American Legion and Willow Ridge for many years. Daniel was a long-term member of Sacred Heart Church. Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
