Daniel Leo Mccarville

Daniel Leo McCarville, 83, of Fort Dodge peacefully passed away early Monday morning, November 2, 2020 at Mercy Medical Center, Des Moines. Danny is survived by his wife of 59 years, Jane, children Suzanne (Bob) Pitsor of Minnetrista, MN, Jeff (Connie) of Vancouver, British Columbia, Jerome (Tonya) of West Des Moines, and Mary Catherine (Kevin) Ferry of Badger, seven grandchildren, one great-grandchild, siblings Francis Ann Filipi (Charles) of Omaha, NE, Mary Catherine Condon of Fort Dodge, Steven of Casa Grande, AZ, and Robert (Bud) of Fort Dodge. He was preceded in death by his parents, Francis and Catherine (Moorland), and siblings John (Jack) of Phoenix, AZ, Bernard of Moorland, and Tommy of Casa Grande, AZ. He was born on October 27, 1937, attended school in Moorland and later graduated from Saint Edmond High School in 1957. Following his education, Dan was united marriage to Jane Swenson. He worked at Iowa Beef Processors for 23 years and at Unity Point (then Trinity Regional) Hospital for 21 years. He also served in the United States Army and later in the Iowa National Guard. Danny was a member of Our Lady of Good Counsel in Moorland where he received his religious sacraments and was eventually married. In addition, he was a member of the Knights of Columbus where he was very active with its annual tootsie roll drive. Danny was known to be a very engaging person who loved to talk with those around him. He was especially known to talk at length about his grandchildren. Everyone around him knew Danny as a relentless hard worker who did so in order to provide the very best to his family and friends. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that individuals enjoy a cookie, a beer, and then take a "cat nap" which, together, was one of his favorite activities. Funeral services are 10:30 a.m. Saturday, November 7, 2020 at Our Lady of Good Counsel Church, Moorland and a visitation is one hour prior. Burial will follow at OLGC Cemetery.
