Daniel Russell

Daniel "Danny" Joseph Russell, 72, of Fort Dodge, passed away Sunday, May 1, 2016. A Celebration of Life will be 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 4, 2016 in the Chapel of Laufersweiler-Sievers Funeral Home. Daniel is survived by his children, Matthew (Heather) Russell of Fort Dodge; Sarah Russell of Chicago, IL; Andrew (Shannon) Russell of Boone; step-children, Jennifer (Matt) Chafos of Nevis, MN; Kelly Gillespie of Fort Dodge; grandchildren, Avery; Keeley; Kaylee; Colby; Aidan; Mason; step-grandchildren, Brady; Micah; Madelynn; brother, Jerry (Doreen) Russell of Lockhart, TX; sisters, Mary Lou Michelson of Fort Dodge; Johanna Fawcett of Fort Dodge; Judy Combs of Leonardtown, MD; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Emmett and Marie (Heller) Russell; grandparents; brothers, Bob; Pat; Bill; John; sisters, Elaine Sanger; Barb Maier; Kathleen Hanson; and Patsy Weiss. Daniel Joseph Russell was born to Emmett and Marie (Heller) Russell on January 22, 1944 in Fort Dodge. He went to school in Barnum and graduated from St. Edmond High School in 1963. Danny worked for Humes Distributing (Anheuser Busch) for many years. He then owned and operated Danny's Place for 11 years. Daniel continued his employment with Maier Landscaping for several years. The Russell family's land south of Clare called Yellowstone brought great joy to Danny. He also took great pride of his Irish Heritage. Daniel enjoyed camping, playing softball, bowling, and golfing.
