Daniel W. McLoud, 85, formerly of Fort Dodge passed away Wednesday, February 24, 2021 in Winder, Georgia. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, March 4, 2021 at Laufersweiler Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery with military rites presented by the VFW Post 1856. A visitation will be 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Daniel is survived by his daughters, Debra Nickless, Melody (Cary) Holm, Lisa Tharp (John), Leslie Flowers all of Fort Dodge; son, Scott (Amy) McLoud of Winder, GA; 10 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, and one on the way. He was preceded in death by his father, Clyde McLoud, mother and step-father, Anna (Ort) and Melvin Block, wife, Donna Mae in 2013; son, Mark McLoud in 2011; infant daughter, Linda Marie, granddaughter, Destanny Smith-Downs and sisters, Norma Linder and Doris Richmond. Daniel W. McLoud was born October 24, 1935 in Iowa City. He was raised and educated in the Fort Dodge area. In November of 1954, Daniel enlisted in the United States Army and served until his honorable discharge in 1957. On June 28, 1958, Daniel was united in marriage to Donna Samsel at Saint Olaf Lutheran Church in Fort Dodge. They first made their home Fort Dodge then Clare and Gowrie; later returning to Fort Dodge in 1986. For 43 years, Dan worked for Celotex. In 2013 Dan moved to Winder, Georgia. Daniel enjoyed raising and riding paint horses and loved to trail ride at Brushy. He could be found in his shop most days using his mechanical skills and welding.
