Darrel Albrecht, 75, of Clare passed away Tuesday, June 28, 2022 at VA Medical Center, Des Moines. A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 AM Saturday, July 2, 2022 at Holy Trinity Church with Msgr. Kevin McCoy officiating. Burial will follow in St. James Cemetery in Clare with military rites provided by the United States Army Honor Guard and the VFW Post 1856. A visitation will be 4:00 to 7:00 PM Friday at Laufersweiler Funeral Home. The funeral services can be viewed via the Laufersweiler Funeral Home Facebook page. Darrel is survived by his siblings, Tom (Patricia) Albrecht of Mason City, Jim Albrecht of Fort Dodge, John Albrecht of Fort Dodge, and Anna Marie (Steve) Frohling of Afton, OK; numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Edward and Bernice (Alig) Albrecht and brothers Charles and Dale Albrecht. Darrel Eugene Albrecht was born September 6, 1946 in Clare. He was raised in Clare and attended St. Matthews through the 9th grade and graduated from Saint Edmond High School in 1964. After graduation he was drafted into the United States Army and was Honorably discharged in 1967 after serving a tour in Vietnam. Darrel worked for Fort Dodge Asphalt and retired as Plant Supervisor in 2008 after almost 37 years. He was a member of Holy Trinity Church. He also served as Commander of the American Legion Post 570 and was a member of the VFW and Catholic Order of the Foresters. A favorite pastime of Darrel's was softball. He served as the stellar first baseman for the Clare Fast Pitch Softball Team for 20 years. Darrel spent his entire 75 years of life living on the family farm in Clare. Memorials may be left to family discretion.
