David E. Wiggins

David "Ozzie" Eugene Wiggins, 73, of Rockwell City, lost his brief courageous fight against leukemia on July 8, 2023 at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames, Iowa. A Celebration of Life will be held at David and Robins home, 134 E Court St. on Friday, July 14, 2023 from 2-5 p.m. David Eugene Wiggins was the middle son, born January 27, 1950 to Kenneth and Helen (Kidder)Wiggins in Charles City, Iowa. He graduated from Charles City High School with the Class of 1967. After high school, David enlisted into the United State Navy. He was a crew member of the USS Bonhomme Richard. He was a Vietnam Veteran. After he returned home from the war, He was a DJ in Spencer, Iowa. This is when he got the nickname Ozzie. In 1987, he met his wife Robin Peddersen while working as a roofer with Robins brother. They were married on September 3, 1988. They made homes in Quimby, Cherokee, Fonda, Sac City, and Rockwell City. They had two sons, Robert and Daniel. David was a hunter, fisher and trapper. When his sons were young, they spent the summers entering fishing contests and camping in Decorah, Iowa. He loved being outside in nature. He was very proud of his gardens. David was contracted with the DNR to trap beavers. When David was not outdoors, you could find him watching University of Iowa sport games or at the casino with Robin. David over the years had been very lucky and won some jackpots. But it didn't matter to him if he won or lost, he just had fun being there. He was an animal lover. He had many cats, dogs and fish over the years. But the most important thing to David was his family. He loved it when the whole family was together. He is survived by his wife Robin of Rockwell City; his two sons, Robert (Minnie) of Rockwell City and Daniel of Carroll; grandsons, Leroy and Abel; niece and nephew, Al Wiggins and Drea Wiggins. He also is survived by many bonus sons and daughters over the years. He was preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth and Helen; father-in-law, Wilber Peddersen; brothers, Gary and Kenny Keith; and nephews, Leroy Webster and Ryan Peddersen.
