David J. George Sr.

David J. George Sr., 73, of Callender, passed away on Thursday, December 6, 2018 at his home. Funeral services will be held 10:30 AM on Monday, December 10th, 2018 at Laufersweiler- Sievers Funeral Home. Burial will be in McGuire Bend Cemetery by Lehigh. Visitation will be on Sunday from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Laufersweiler Funeral Home. Survivors include his wife, Linda of Callender; son, David George Jr. of Gowrie; daughters, Kimberly Tate of Indiana; Nicki Studyvin of Harcourt; Vicki Chase of Somers; Melissa Johnson of Wesley; Tammie Buscher of Algona; sons, Shawn George; Kelly George; and Mark George all of Callender; 15 grandchildren; and his brother, William George of Ankeny; and his beloved dogs, "Tumbles and Sammy" He was preceded in death by his parents, Cecil and Ethel (Sell) George; brother, Richard George; 4 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. David J. George was born on April 6, 1945 in Fort Dodge, Iowa. He was raised in Otho and attended schools in Otho and Central Webster. On March 11, 1979 he was united in marriage to Linda Faith. The couple made their home in Callender. David drove truck for Carney and Hancock Inc. and Keim Transportation until retiring in 1996. He enjoyed working on cars, cooking, and watching old westerns. David loved to spend time with his family, especially his grandchildren. Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
