David L Jones

Dave Jones, 81, of Fort Dodge passed away Wednesday, September 1, 2021 at his home. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, September 7, 2021 at First Presbyterian Church. with Rev. Sara Hill officiating. Burial will follow in North Lawn Cemetery. A visitation will be 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. Monday at Laufersweiler Funeral Home. Dave is survived by his children, Cathy (Allen) Jordison, Dave Jones, Jr., and Dawn (Gary) Gronbach all of Fort Dodge; grandchildren, Katie Francis, Anthony Baedke, Matt Gronbach, Amy Halverson, and Kristin Johnson; 17 great-grandchildren, siblings, Jerry Jones of Johnston, Dean Jones of Georgetown, KY, Lee Jones of Palm Desert, CA, and Kathy Haines of Tigard, OR. He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Helen (Porter) Jones. David Leo Jones was born May 29, 1940 in Fort Dodge. He was raised on a farm in the Fort Dodge area with his sister and three brothers. He attended schools in Otho, Burnside, Badger and Fort Dodge. After graduating in 1957, he joined the United States Navy. Upon his honorable discharge, he returned to Fort Dodge. In October of 1958, he married Toni Palmer and the couple made their home in Fort Dodge. They later divorced. He was employed with Crouse Cartage Company as a dock worker and delivery truck driver and in 1973, entered into the real estate business. He owned and operated Jones Realty for a number of years. Dave wanted everyone to know that his life has been a great, wonderful adventure and to live, laugh, love and never be afraid. In lieu of flowers, send a bouquet to someone who can enjoy them now. Memorials may be left to family discretion.
