David L. Schott, 74, of Fort Dodge passed away Monday, April 26, 2021 at his home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday at 10:00 AM at Holy Trinity Church with Msgr. Kevin McCoy and Fr. Brian Feller concelebrating. The services will be Livesteamed via the Laufersweiler Funeral Home Facebook page. Burial will follow at Corpus Christi Cemetery with military rites provided by the United States Navy Honor Guard and the VFW Post 1856. A visitation will be on Friday from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at Laufersweiler Funeral Home. Masks are highly encouraged. David is survived by his wife Jackie Schott of Fort Dodge; children, Stacey (Rick) Weinrich of Omaha, NE, Tami (Jason) Condon of Des Moines, and Jason (Stephanie) Schott of Williamsburg, IA; 8 grandchildren; sisters, Susan McDaniel of Goldfield, Carol (Leonard) Jahnke of Eagle Grove, sister-in-law, Teresa Schott of Fort Dodge; 8 nieces and nephews and several great nieces and nephews, countless friends, and fishing "brothers". He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Kathleen (George) Schott, brothers, Steven and James Schott; brother-in-law, Charles McDaniel; nephew, Micheal McDaniel and niece, Melissa McDaniel. David Lane Schott was born August 9, 1946 in Fort Dodge. He was raised and educated in Rolfe and graduated in 1964, from Rolfe High School. On July 7, 1964 he joined the United States Navy serving as an electrician until his honorable discharge on August 8, 1967. Upon his return home he was united in marriage to Jacqueline Major in Rolfe on August 26, 1967 at St. Margaret's Church. Dave then attended and graduated from IBEW Electrical School where he later taught electrical apprentices for several years. He worked for several different IBEW Contractors until February of 1987, when he started Schott Electric Company which he owned and operated until 2010. Dave served as a lector at Holy Rosary Church, Eucharistic Minister at Corpus Christi Church, and the Marian Home. He was a member of Holy Trinity Church, the V.F.W. Post 1856 and was a friend of Bill W. for over 40 years. Dave took part in the Honor Flight in 2017, enjoyed fishing and more than anything loved to be with his family. Memorials may be left to the A.L.S. Association, the Holy Trinity Food Pantry, or to Kindred Hospice of Carroll.
