David W. Ahlrichs

Memorial Services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 12, 2021at St. Paul Lutheran & Presbyterian Church, Rockwell City, with Pastor Jim Davis officiating. Visitation will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday at the Church until service time. In lieu of flowers memorials may be left to the discretion of the family. David Wiese Ahlrichs was born May 18, 1941 at home on a farmstead near Palmer, Iowa. He walked to country school and attended Palmer Public School. In February of 1956, his family to a farm west of Rockwell City. David graduated from Rockwell City High School, with the Class of 1959. He then attended Iowa State University, graduating in 1964. David was in the Federal Army Reserve for six years and farmed with his father, raising turkeys and cattle. On July 26, 1970, he was united in marriage to Marcia Cox, whom he referred to as his "Little Love", at the United Methodist Church in Hornick, Iowa. David continued farming the family farm while Marcia taught elementary music. In 1979, the couple welcomed their 10-year-old foster daughter, Jodi into their home. They happily celebrated 50 years of marriage in 2020. David loved playing piano and organ, and gardening. He volunteered at City Hall to care for their flower bed. He was custodian for the Rockwell City Public Library and cooked for the Rockwell City Lions Club where he was a member. David and Marcia operated Pine Grove Bed & Breakfast in their farm home for many years. David is survived by his wife Marcia; daughter Jodi; sister Rachael (Don) Gerdes; sisters-in-law, Ruth Ahlrichs, Susan Ahlrichs, Kay (Gary) Gesaman, Linda (Richard) Gallagher, and Marilyn (Maury) Byers; many nieces and nephews; and other relatives and a host of friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Tena Ahlrichs; and brothers, John Henry, James and his wife Kristina, and Loren and his wife Rebecca. David was called home to be with his Lord and Savior on June 4, 2021. He was a faithful member of St. Paul Lutheran & Presbyterian Church.
