Deanna L Mallinger

Deanna L. Mallinger, 85, of Fort Dodge passed away Tuesday, June 6, 2023 at the Marian Home. Mass of Christian of Burial will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, June 12, 2023 at Holy Trinity Church with Msgr. Kevin McCoy officiating. Burial will follow at Corpus Christi Cemetery. A visitation will be one hour prior at the church. Laufersweiler Funeral Home is serving the family. Deanna is survived by her sister Judy Wessels of Twin Lakes, brother Roger (Earlys) Tonkinson of Mesa, AZ, son-in-law James Sperry of Ames, many nieces, nephews, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, and friends. Deanna is preceded in death by her husband Eugene Mallinger in 1990, daughter Debra Lee Mallinger Sperry in 2003, parents Samuel and Sylvia (Miller) Tonkinson, and brother-in-law Rick Wessels. Deanna Lee Tonkinson was born on December 5, 1937, in Paton. She attended school there and graduated from Paton High School in 1956. After high school she attended St. Joseph Mercy School of Nursing in Fort Dodge. Deanna graduated as an R.N. in 1959 (the last class to graduate from Fort Dodge). On October 24, 1959, she was united in marriage to Eugene Anthony Mallinger at Holy Rosary Church in Fort Dodge. The couple then moved to a farm near Palmer and lived there for 11 years before moving to a farm near Rockwell City for 12 years. They then moved to Manson for a period of time before moving to Fort Dodge in 1984. Deanna worked for 40 years as a nurse. She worked at Mercy Hospital in Fort Dodge, Pocahontas Community Hospital, and retired as a nurse supervisor in 1999 from Trinity Regional Hospital. Deanna was a member of Holy Trinity Church, Catholic Daughters of Americas Court #216, and Trinity Regional Medical Center Auxillary. Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
