Delores P Rivera

Delores P. Rivera, 84, of Fort Dodge, passed away Sunday, September 20, 2015 at Simpson Health Center, Friendship Haven. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday, September 24, 2015 in the Chapel of Laufersweiler-Sievers Funeral Home and 10:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church with Rev. Joseph Dillinger officiating the Mass of Christian Burial. Burial will follow at Corpus Christi Cemetery. A visitation will be 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with a Rosary at 4:00 p.m. and a Vigil at 7:00 p.m. Delores is survived by her husband, Alex; children, Robert (Kristina) Rivera of Fon du Lac, WI; Gail (Bruce) Rivera Crowley of Fort Dodge ; Juanita (Steve) Rivera-Olson of Kapaau, HI; Maria (Donald) Nelson of Fort Dodge; David (Connie) Rivera of Omaha, NE; Christina (Robert) Russell of Fort Dodge; Angie Messerly of Fort Dodge; James "Sonny" (Mary) Rivera of Fort Dodge; grandchildren 23; great-grandchildren 25; one great-great-grandchild; brothers, Salvadore (Angie) Ayala of Des Moines; Sam (Hope) Ayala of Fort Dodge; and sister, Josephine Thompson of Fort Dodge. She was preceded in death by her parents Benjamin and Juana (Gomez) Ayala; daughter, Patricia; son-in-law, Roger Messerly; brothers, Joe; John; Frank; Tony Ayala; sisters, Rose Grimes and Catherine Rivera. Delores P. Ayala was born June 25, 1931 in Bancroft. The family moved to Fort Dodge where she attended school at Corpus Christi Academy. In June of 1950, she was united in marriage to Alex Rivera at Corpus Christi Church and the couple established their home in Fort Dodge. Delores and Alex shared 64 years of marriage. As a caring homemaker, family was the most important thing to Delores. Her love was evident in the way she cared for her family and friends. Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
