Dennis L. Konvalinka, 78, of Fort Dodge passed away Wednesday, April 4, 2018 at the Paula J. Baber Hospice Home. Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Saturday, April 7, 2018 at Laufersweiler-Sievers Funeral Home and then 2:00 p.m. a Mass of Christian Burial will be at Sacred Heart Church with Msgr. Kevin McCoy officiating. Burial will follow at Corpus Christi Cemetery. A visitation will be 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, with a K of C Rosary at 6:30 p.m. followed by a time of family sharing. Dennis is survived by his wife, Jean; children, David of Fort Dodge; Michelle (Steve) Shanks of LeMars; Brian (Rose) of Iowa City; Megan (Tim) Knipper of Adel; eight grandchildren; one great-grandchild; brother, Dean (Sue) Konvalinka; sister-in-law, Jane Konvalinka all of Fort Dodge. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jerry and Anna (Beadle) Konvalinka and brother, Donald Konvalinka. Dennis L. Konvalinka was born January 11, 1940 in Fort Dodge. He was raised and educated in Fort Dodge. He served in the United States Navy from 1958 to 1962. He was united in marriage to Jean Rustemier on June 27, 1964. The couple established their home in Fort Dodge. Denny worked for Beisser Lumber for over 50 years, retiring in 2006. Dennis was a member of the Knights of Columbus and Holy Trinity Parish. He was an avid woodworker and biking enthusiast. He cherished his fishing trips to Minnesota and gardening. Denny loved the Lord Jesus and he passed that love to his family. He was a great story teller and Denny will be greatly missed. Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
