Dennis Lee Brandenburg

August 2, 1945 — February 19, 2024

Dennis L. Brandenburg, 78, formerly of Clare passed away Monday, February 19, 2024 at Sunny Knoll Care Centre in Rockwell City.


A Celebration of Life will be 1:00 to 4:00 PM Sunday, May 19, 2024 at the VFW Post 1856 in Fort Dodge.


Dennis is survived by his daughter, Sandy May of Jefferson; siblings, Linda "Bee" Tappe of Johnston, Jolene (Norm) Ostbloom of Des Moines, Julie (Dale) Beaver of Ankeny; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.


He was preceded in death by his wife, Carole Brandenburg; parents John and Thelma (Ross) Brandenburg; daughter, Sara Brandenburg; son-in-law, Lee May; siblings, Judy Brandenburg, Christine Brandenburg, Robert Brandenburg, brother-in-law Robert Tappe; and former wife Nancy Brandenburg-Wright.


Dennis Lee Brandenburg was born August 2, 1945 in Jefferson. He attended area schools and graduated from Central Webster in Burnside with the class of 1963. Upon his graduation, he enlisted in the United States Air Force until his honorable discharge in 1965. On June 12, 1968 he was united in marriage to Nancy Wright. The couple later parted ways. Dennis was then united in marriage to Carole Morwitzer and the couple was together for almost 40years before she passed away. Dennis was an over the road truck driver and lived in Clare for over 30 years. He enjoyed watching country westerns especially if they had John Wayne in them. He loved to country line dance and volunteered in his spare time at the Salvation Army. Above all else, he loved fishing. His favorite fishing spots were Dolliver Park and Brushy Creek as well as Spring Lake. He will be missed dearly by those that knew and loved him.
