Dennis Lee Larson

Dennis Lee Larson, 70, of Fort Dodge departed this earthly life on Friday, February 26, 2016 at Fort Dodge Health and Rehabilitation. Dennis was the first of four blessings born to Elaine (Wagner) and Archie Lee Larson two days after Christmas, December 27, 1945. Dennis was baptized into the Christian faith and received his education in the Fort Dodge schools. Dennis had a kind heart and regularly attended Catholic mass. Dennis was known to say "I prayed for you." He enjoyed playing bingo and watching movies and football. He was a huge fan of John Wayne, and also of the Iowa Hawkeyes. Dennis particularly loved going out to dinner with family or staying home having pop and cake. He called this "going on break." He loved talking with others and had a joyous laugh and a big smile for everyone. For several years Dennis worked for Iowa Central Industries, now known as Life Works, where he also lived at one of the nine group homes here in Fort Dodge. In the final years of his life, Dennis resided at Fort Dodge Health and Rehab where his many friends (staff, residents and visitors) became part of his family. He was always involved with the activities and helping the staff. More recently, Dennis was under the compassionate care of Unity Point Hospice. Dennis is now in his heavenly home reunited with his mother Elaine, who passed away in 2013; his father Archie, who passed away in 2015; his brother Ron and brother-in-law Tom Davis. Survivors are his brother Michael Larson and sister Beverly Davis, both of Fort Dodge. A Celebration of Life will be held on Tuesday, March 8th, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Olaf Lutheran Church with Rev. John Sersland officiating. Burial of his cremated remains will be at a later date in the Larson family plots at North Lawn Cemetery. Visitation will be on Monday from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Laufersweiler-Sievers Funeral Home. Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
