Dennis "Denny" M. Wessels, 77, of Fort Dodge passed away Saturday, February 22, 2014 at the Paula J. Baber Hospice Home. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, February 26, 2014 at First Covenant Church with Rev. Allan Redenius officiating. Burial will follow at North Lawn Cemetery. A visitation will be 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday at Laufersweiler-Sievers Funeral Home. Dennis is survived by his wife of 56 years, Ardith; children, Shanda (Tom) Kinseth of Ankeny; Kendra Steinberg (Rian) of Fort Dodge; grandchildren, Ryan and Brandon Kinseth; Marissa (Ryan) Gruenberg; Shane Wessels; Kaia (Tommy) Smith; Nolan Eger; Reid Steinberg; three great-grandchildren, Ava Wessels; Thomas Smith; Ashlynn Kinseth and a baby Gruenberg on the way; sisters, Sheryll Pierce and Kathy Stout of Louisville, KY; and brother, Edward Wessels of Crown Point, IN. He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Helen (Johnson) Wessels and infant daughter, Shelly Wesssels. Dennis Michael Wessels was born January 30, 1937 in Fort Dodge. Dennis was raised by his aunt and uncle, Gladys and Don Johnson in Fort Dodge. He attended public schools in Fort Dodge and graduated from FDSH in 1955. Dennis was united in marriage to Ardith (Ardee) Benson on October 26, 1957 at the Orleans Lutheran Church in Ridgeway, IA. The couple established their home in Fort Dodge. Dennis retired in 1996, after 40 years of employment with Land O'Lakes. He retired as the manager of the Printing Service. He was a member of the Printing House Craftsman's Club of America. Denny is also a past member of the Kiwanis Club and The Elks. He was member of First Covenant Church and was an active board member holding various offices. Memorials may be left to Unity Point Hospice or Twin Lakes Bible Camp.
