Dolores Estelle Schermer

Dolores E. Schermer, 106, passed away Saturday, August 13, 2016 at the Marian Home in Fort Dodge. Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday, August 16, 2016 at 10:15 at the Marian Home with Reverend Patrick Behm officiating. Burial will be at Corpus Christi Cemetery. A visitation will be on Tuesday 9:00 a.m. to 10:15 a.m. prior to the funeral at the Marian Home. Dolores is survived by friend Mary Avelleyra and several cousins. Dolores was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Mathilda (Frommelt) Schermer. Dolores Estelle Schermer was born February 12, 1910 in Fort Dodge. She was raised and educated in Fort Dodge; graduating from Corpus Christi Academy in 1928. She then attended and graduated from Tobin Business College. Dolores worked for Saint Joseph Mercy Hospital as a Medical records Librarian for 10 years. For the next 35 years, Dolores worked as a secretary for the Regional Office of the Iowa State Department of Health in Fort Dodge; until retiring in 1975. She was a member of Corpus Christi Church where she sang in the choir for 35 plus years. Dolores enjoyed doing volunteer work for the Webster County Cancer Society and the Marian Home. She moved into the Marian Home and Village in 1990. Memorials may be left to Hospice, Saint Edmond Catholic Schools and Holy Trinity Parish.
