Rockwell City Dona J. Miller 97, passed away Tuesday, December 8, 2020 at Sunny Knoll Care Centre, Rockwell City. Private Family Services will be 2:00 p.m. Monday, Dec. 14, 2020 at St. Pauls Lutheran & Presbyterian Church, Rockwell City, with Pastor Kelley Pedersen and Pastor Jim Davis officiating. Burial of casket will be at Rosehill Cemetery. A Come & Go Visitation will be 12:00 Noon Monday at the Church until service time. Masks are required and social distancing will be practiced. Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family. The Funeral Service will be live streamed on the Palmer & Swank Funeral Home Facebook page. Dona is survived by her daughter Victoria Stumpf and her husband Thomas of Rockwell City; sons, Russell Miller of Anchor Point, Alaska, and Dr. Casey Miller of Nemaha; 7 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; 8 great-great-grandchildren; and sisters, Nancy (Wes) Winchel of Kerrville, Texas, Carol (Frank) Cranston of Elkhorn, Nebraska, and Barbara Voss of Iowa City; and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband Henry; son Scott Miller; infant son and daughter; her parents, Carman and Jennie Rathbun Russell; stepmother Estella Russell; brother John Russell; brother-in-law Dow Voss; and sisters-in-law, Betty Russell and Sheila Russell. Dona Jane Russell was born August 27, 1923 at Ida Grove, Iowa. She was raised in Ida Grove and graduated from Ida Grove High School, with the Class of 1940. On June 15, 1941 she was united in marriage to Henry C. Miller at Maryville, Missouri. The couple made their home in Iowa City, Ida Grove, Laurens, and later established their home to Rockwell City. Dona worked in food service for the Rockwell City Elementary School until her retirement in 1985. During their retirement years, the couple wintered in Mesa, Arizona. Henry passed away in 2002. Dona made her home at Sunnyview Independent Living until becoming a resident at Sunny Knoll Care Centre. Dona was a member of St. Pauls Lutheran & Presbyterian Church, Sunday School Teacher, and American Legion Auxiliary. Dona enjoyed dancing, shopping, cooking, and baking and loved her family dearly.
