Donald G. Konvalinka, 80, of Harcourt passed away Sunday, August 24, 2014 at Mary Greely Medical Center in Ames. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday, August 28, 2014 at Laufersweiler-Sievers funeral Home and a Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. at Corpus Christi Church with Msgr. Kevin McCoy officating. Burial will follow at Corpus Christi Cemetery where Military Rites will be presented by the VFW Post 1856. A visitation will be 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with a rosary at 4:30 and a Vigil at 7:00. Donald is survived by his wife, Jane; children, Debra Konvalinka of Harcourt; Daniel Konvalinka; Elaine (Kevin) Rubel; Kelly (Troy) Anderson all of Fort Dodge; grandchildren, Kelsey Rubel; Kaitlyn Rubel; Marissa Anderson; and Alisa Anderson; brothers, Dennis and Dean Konvalinka both of Fort Dodge. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jerry and Anna (Beadle) Konvalinka. Donald Gerald Konvalinka was born December 27, 1933 in Fort Dodge. He graduated from Sacred Heart High School in 1952. Don served in the United States Navy during the Korean Conflict on the USS Wisconsin. On April 2, 1960 Donald was united in marriage to Jane Dencklau in the Corpus Christi Church Rectory. The couple first established their home in Tara then later moved to Harcourt. Donald was employed with Tobins and then George A. Hormel's for thirty years of service, all while farming throughout the Harcourt area. Don and Jane were members of Christ the King Church in Dayton. He was a member of the P-31 Union Meat Cutters Association, ZCBJ Bohemian Lodge, and AmVets. Donald's favorite enjoyment was farming with his family and grandkids. Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
