Donald L. Herr

Donald L. Herr, 77, of Fort Dodge passed away on Tuesday, July 15, 2014, at the Paula J. Baber Hospice Home. Funeral Services will be held on Friday, July 18th at 10:30 a.m. in the Chapel of the Laufersweiler-Sievers Funeral Home with Rev. Allan Redenius, Pastor of First Covenant Church, officiating. Burial will be in North Lawn Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Laufersweiler-Sievers Funeral Home. Don is survived by his wife, Sue; son, Jerry (Lori) Herr of Fort Dodge; daughter, Sherri (Malcolm) McIntyre of Kansas City, MO; grandchildren, Pat Johnson; Mark McIntyre; and Brian McIntyre; great grandchildren, Taylor and Riley Johnson, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Edd Herr; mother and step-father, Melvin and Eva (Bittner) Benson; and his brother, Doug Herr. Donald L. Herr was born on August 8, 1936 in Fort Dodge. He was raised and educated here, graduating from Fort Dodge Senior High School in 1956. On May 31, 1959, he was united in marriage to Suzanne Nyquist. The couple established their home in Fort Dodge. Don and Sue owned and operated Speedee Car Wash and His and Herr's Miniature Golf until retiring in 2010. Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
