Donald L. Breeden, 80, of Dakota City passed away Friday, March 4, 2016 at Humboldt County Memorial Hospital. Donald Lee Breeden was born December 19, 1935 in Iowa City. Don was raised in Fort Dodge. From his start as a paperboy to his employment at the Fullerton Lumberyard and IBP, Don was a determined business man. He went on to own the Humdinger Restaurant in Fort Dodge and then he also operated a sodding business with his partner, Ron Dewey. Don is most known for his sanitation business, Breeden Sanitation, which he started with a pick-up truck and continued to run for over 60 years. Donald Breeden and Jeanne Dellinger were united in marriage in Fort Dodge on October 19, 1953. They had four children Donna, Donald, Susan, and Jerry. Jeanne passed away in 1982. Don was then united in marriage to Judy Habhab on April 2, 1983 and the couple made their home in Dakota City. Don is survived by his wife, Judy; children, Donna and Terry Petersen of Des Moines; Donald Breeden and Jan Thomas of Des Moines; Sue and Jeff Hanna of Humboldt; Jerry and Leasa Breeden of Des Moines; grandchildren; Ryan and Crystal Flanagan, Melissa, Ashlee, and Joey Petersen; Jamie and Chad Behounek; Mike and Jessica Hanna; great-grandchildren, Lexee West; Chase and Mark Flanagan; Jacob, Addison, and Lucas Behounek; Morgan Hanna; step-children, Michelle (Brad) McCaleb of West Des Moines; Nozey Habhab of Boone; Troy (Rose) Habhab of Brownsville, TX; Elizabeth Habhab of Cedar Falls; William Habhab of Dakota City; numerous, step-grandchildren and step-greatgrandchildren. Donald's brothers, John and Dan both of Fort Dodge; Bob of Gowrie; and sister, Madelyn Rank of Carroll. Donald was preceded in death by his parents, Edward Sr. and Thelma (Jermeland) Breeden; first wife, Jeanne; brothers, Edward Jr.; Davey Ray; Jimmy; sisters, Darlene Marsh and Donna Deal; and Grandson, Steven Hanna. Funeral services will be 12:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 8, 2016 at Laufersweiler-Sievers Funeral Home with Rev. Mike Carmody of New Covenant Church officiating. Visitation will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday until the time of the service at the funeral home. Memorials are appreciated and may be left to the discretion of the family.
