Donald Marion Brooks, 90, of Fort Dodge and formerly of Woodbine, IA passed away August 3, 2022, at the Paula J. Baber Hospice Home. Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Friday, August 12, 2022, at Laufersweiler Funeral Home. Burial will be at Ault Cemetery in Jefferson County Colorado. A visitation will be 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Donald is survived by his children William Edwin "Ed" Brooks and his wife Patty of Newman, CA, Cheri Hendrix and her husband James of Fort Dodge, stepson Charles Thomas McCullough of New Hampshire, six grandsons, three great-granddaughters, and a sister Donna (Brooks) Heldt of Billings, MT. He is preceded in death by his wife Jeanne, parents William and Erma (Bock) Brooks, stepson Michael Lynn McCullough, brother Henry Keith Brooks, sister Barbara Louise (Brooks) Karr, and step-grandson Julian Phillips. Donald was born on May 5, 1932, in Fort Collins, Co. He was raised and educated in Wheatland, WY. He graduated from Wheatland High School in 1951 and Red Rocks Community College in 1982 with a degree in Electrical Engineering. Donald served in the Army from 1953 to 1955 in the 44th Field Artillery Battalion in Germany and then transferred to the Army Reserve. Donald returned to Glenwood Springs and worked as a Projectionist at the Romana Theatre in Glenwood Springs. On November 1, 1958, he was united in marriage to Alice Jeanne (Rosse) McCullough, the couple lived in Commerce City, CO. Until 1966 when they built a home in Morrison, CO. Donald worked in construction, as a milkman and projectionist. In 1982, he was employed by Digital Equipment Corporation until retiring in 1997. The couple moved to Woodbine, IA in 1999. His wife Jeanne, of 47 years, passed away in 2005. In 2017, Donald moved to Fort Dodge to live near his daughter Cheri. Donald enjoyed woodworking, art and genealogy. He was a member of Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He served faithfully in many callings and was a High Priest. Memorials may be left to the Webster County Genealogical Society.
