Donald S. Halligan, 78, passed away Friday, February 10, 2017. Funeral services will be Tuesday, February 21st, 2017, at 10:00 a.m. at Laufersweiler-Sievers Funeral Home and then at 10:30 a.m. the Mass of Christian Burial will be at Corpus Christi Church, with Msgr. Kevin McCoy officiating. Burial will be at North Lawn Cemetery with military rites presented by the V.F.W. Post 1856 and United States Air Force Honor Guard. A visitation will be Monday, February 20th, 2017, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home with a K. of C. Rosary at 6:30 p.m. and Vigil Prayer service at 7:00 p.m. Donald is survived by his sons, Tracy (Debbie) Halligan of Dallas, TX; and Rick (Mary) Halligan of Fort Dodge; daughter, Jolene Halligan (Jason Heller) of Fort Dodge; grandchildren, Ashley and Blake Halligan; Tommy; Austin and Shane Halligan; Nick and Courtney Ertl; great grandchildren, Traci Williams and Jordyn Monaco; sisters, Phyllis Schwering of Moorland and Audrey (Tootie) Bryfogel of Boone; brothers, Richard Halligan of Arab, AL and Wayne Halligan of Odessa, TX. He was preceded in death by his parents, J. Steve and Della M. (Forcier) Halligan; wife, Bonnie in 2013; twin sisters, Mary Kathryn Halligan and Margaret Rykus; and infant brother, Duane. Donald S. Halligan was born October 12, 1938 in Stuart, MN. He was raised and educated in Fort Dodge and graduated from Otho High School in 1956. He then joined the U.S. Air Force and served until 1960. On December 27, 1961, Donald was united in marriage to Bonnie L. Brayton. The couple established their home in Fort Dodge. Don worked as a truck driver for 12 years for Western Transport and retired in 1996 from Yellow Freight. He was a member of Holy Trinity Parish and a life member of the Knights of Columbus. He was a past member of the Elks. Don enjoyed country music and he loved to tell stories to his grandchildren. Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
