Donna J. Sytsma

Harcourt Donna J. Sytsma 85, of Ottumwa, formerly of Harcourt passed away Sunday, October 3, 2021 at Ridgewood Specialty Care in Ottumwa. Graveside Services will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, October 9, 2021 at Lost Grove Township Cemetery, Harcourt with Pastor Jim Davis and Pastor Kay Christie officiating. Visitation will be 9:00 a.m. Saturday at the Palmer Funeral Home, Gowrie until service time. Donna Jean Sytsma, daughter of Andrew and Eva (Miller) Sytsma, was born July 10, 1936. Donnas family lived near Albia, IA when she was born and moved to a farm north of Harcourt in 1938, where they lived until 1969. Donna attended School in Harcourt through eighth grade. In 1969, they moved into Harcourt where she lived with her parents. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Harcourt. In 1993, Donna moved to Albia, IA where she lived in a private home for 7 years. In 2000, she moved to Jim and Sharon Browns home in Ottumwa. That is where she has resided until the last months of her life. Survivors include her sister-in-law Phyllis Sytsma of Harcourt; nieces and nephews, Phyllis Hoover (Doug) of Roland, IA, Darlene Light (Dean) of Kansas City, KS, Kim Breen (Dan) of Waterville, OH, Kris Atkins of Dallas, TX, Kevin Sytsma (Mi) of North Las Vegas, NV, Karen Sandberg (Jim) of Gowrie, Kendra Sytsma of Smyrna, TN, and Keith Sytsma (Dena) of Harcourt; thirteen great nieces and nephews; and numerous cousins. Preceding her in death were her parents, Andrew and Eva Sytsma; and her brothers and sister-in-law, Elvin Sytsma and Floyd and Lillian Hoover.
