Donna L. Brand

Somers Donna L. Brand 83, a resident of Friendship Haven, Fort Dodge, went to be with the Lord Tuesday, June 15, 2021 at the Paula J. Baber Hospice Home, Fort Dodge. Funeral Services will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, June 19, 2021 at the Palmer & Swank Funeral Home, Rockwell City, with Rev. Nathan Nielson officiating. Visitation and viewing will be 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday, June 18, at the funeral home. Burial will be at Greenfield Township Cemetery, Knierim, at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be left to the discretion of the family. Donna is survived by her daughters, Tammy (Nathan) Nielson of Marietta, GA, and Terri Brand of Lincoln, NE; sons, Rick (Maureen) Brand of Somers, and Curtis (Renita) Brand of Urbandale; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; sisters, Helen Johnston of Scottsdale, AZ, and Mary Lou (Roger) Jensen of Humboldt; and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband Roger; parents, Leslie and Esther (Chase) Dey; and brother-in-law Kenneth Johnston. Donna Lee Dey Brand was born October 17, 1937 at Mitchellville, Iowa. She graduated from Callender High School in Callender, with the Class of 1955. Donna was a teenage polio survivor. On July 28, 1957 she was united in marriage to Roger D. Brand in Somers. The couple made their home on a farm near Somers. Donna and Roger enjoyed wintering in Texas and being with friends and family, and most of all serving the Lord. Roger passed away in 2014. She was a member of the Somers United Methodist Church, where she played the organ and piano. Donna also loved gardening, playing bridge, going to garage sales, cooking, and anything and everything purple.
