Fort Dodge - On Sunday, March 13, 2016, our beloved mother, Doris Lenore (Loehr) Bunda, 95, was called home by Our Heavenly Father while residing at the Paula J. Baber Hospice Home, Fort Dodge. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, March 17, 2016 in the Chapel of Laufersweiler-Sievers Funeral Home, Fort Dodge, with Pastor Jim Davis officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Fort Dodge. Friends may call after 4:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 16, 2016 at the funeral home. Doris was born on November 25, 1920, in Moorland, IA, to Adolph and Clara (Sheker) Loehr. She graduated from Moorland High School and then went to the Fort Dodge Cosmetology School and received her Certification in Cosmetology in 1939. Doris moved to Kansas City for a couple of years and worked in the factory, building aircraft carriers during WWII. She married Clarence J. "Dutch" Bunda in Boise, ID, on September 16, 1942, where Dutch was serving as a Bombardier in the 52nd Bomb Squadron. Doris and Dutch moved back to Moorland after the war and began their lifelong journey together, farming south of Fort Dodge. Doris also received care at the Fort Dodge Villa Care Center where she had been residing since November of 2015. Doris was a devoted wife, mother, and community member. She raised three children and kept active with their activities in school sports, served as a 4-H Leader, and volunteered at the Webster County Fair. She served as Secretary of the Webster County Extensions Council for many years. Doris was a lifelong member of the United Congregational Church in Moorland and served many roles including Sunday School Teacher, Church Treasurer, Youth Choir Director, and was active in the Women's group. She volunteered over 20 years at Friendship Haven and served as a Voter Registration Clerk for 12 years. Doris worked at the Community Apple Orchard for several years. Doris was an avid bridge player and enjoyed playing in several bridge and 500 groups. A favorite activity was a monthly birthday luncheon group which included cherished friends. As a founding member of the Moorland Book Club, she remained active over 30 years. Doris loved big band music and she and Dutch enjoyed the Sunday evening dances at the ZCBJ Hall and belonged to a square dance club in Fort Dodge. Doris is survived by her daughters, Sandy (Steve) Ummel of Chicago, IL; Roxie Kaminski of Woodstock, IL; son, Tom (Belinda) Bunda of Moorland; grandchildren, Scott (Jeanne) Ummel; Christine (Ian) Achterkirch; Andrea (Michael) Grage; Sarah (Blake) Berg; Kelly Kaminski; Michael Kaminski; Nicholas (Ellie) Kaminski; Kathy Jane Kaminski; J.B. (Laura) Bunda; Tyra (Frank) Tenuta; Shan (Karrie) Jaeschke; Cort (Julie) Jaeschke; 24 great-grandchildren; and sister-in-law, Betty Burke of Fort Dodge. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence J. "Dutch" Bunda; parents, Adolph and Clara Loehr; sisters, Lois (Robert) Smith; Donna (Keith) Knutson; and brother, Howard (Ellinor) Loehr.
