Rockwell City Doris M. Hildreth 95, passed away Thursday, January 3, 2019 at the Sunny Knoll Care Centre, Rockwell City. Funeral Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, January 7, 2019 at the United Methodist Church, Rockwell City, with Pastor Anita Bane officiating. Burial will be at Rosehill Cemetery, Rockwell City. Visitation will be 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Sunday at the Palmer & Swank Funeral Home, Rockwell City. Doris is survived by her children, Gilbert Hildreth of Rockwell City, Craig (Julie) Hildreth of Lytton, Cheryl (James) Johnson of Sac City, and Joy (Kevin) Monahan of Rockwell City; 11 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Pauline Walters of Lake City; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Richard and Ardeth Hildreth of Rockwell City; and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene Hildreth; son Galen Hildreth; grandchildren, Joseph Hildreth, Nicholas Hildreth, and Emily Jean Brooks; her parents, Franklin and Laura (Engstrom) Walters; brothers, Elmer, Orville, and Earl Walters; and sister Marjorie Hubel. Doris Marcella Walters Hildreth was born October 14, 1923 at Rockwell City, Iowa. She graduated from Rockwell City High School, with the Class of 1942. On January 13, 1946 she was united in marriage to Eugene C. Hildreth in Rockwell City. The couple farmed in Center Township, near Rockwell City. Doris worked various jobs in the community including ASCS Office, Calhoun Co. Reminder, and the Rockwell City Daycare. Eugene passed away in 1987. Doris was a member of United Methodist Church, UMW, Joy Circle, and enjoyed playing cards and games.
