Dorothy Ann "Dot" Barrett, 65, of Fort Dodge passed away May 9, 2015 at her home. Funeral services will be 9:45 a.m. Friday, May 15th at Laufersweiler-Sievers Funeral Home and 10:30 a.m. a Mass of Christian Burial will be at Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church, Moorland with Msgr. Kevin McCoy officiating. Burial will follow at Our Lady of Good Counsel Cemetery, Moorland. A visitation will be 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with a Catholic Daughters of America Rosary at 4:00 p.m. Dorothy is survived by her parents, James and Virginia Barrett of Fort Dodge; brothers, Steve (Shelley) Barrett of Moorland; Bob (Tamara) Barrett of Waukee; Bernie (Liz) Barrett of Belmond; Joe (Jeanne) Barrett of Des Moines; sisters, Barb (Jerry) Streit of Gilbert, AZ; Jo Ann (Ralph) Harper of Livingston, MT; Betty (Keith) Stuhrenburg of Barnum; 20 nieces and nephews and 18 great-nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Michael & Johanna Barrett and William & Catherine Crawford; brother, Richard; niece, Theresa Barrett; uncles, Francis "Mike" Barrett; Allen Knox; aunts, Rose Lee Crawford and Marian Crawford. Dorothy Ann Barrett was born March 2, 1950 in Fort Dodge. Dot grew up on the family farm in Moorland. She attended Moorland Grade School, Sacred Heart Elementary and graduated from St. Edmond Catholic High School on May 29, 1969. Dot worked for Globe Union for 20 plus years, until it closed, then Bonanza, and Fort Dodge Foods until they also closed. She was currently employed with Menard's in the paint department. Dot was a member of Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Daughters of America Court #216. She was a loving and caring aunt, paying attention to all her nieces and nephews. Dot had a grand Pepsi collection, enjoyed bowling, and was an avid softball player. She loved attending Frontier Days and the Iowa State Fair. In Lieu of flowers memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
