Dorothy G Schwering

Dorothy G. Schwering, 87, of Fort Dodge passed away Friday August 15, 2014 at Trinity Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, August 19th at 10:30 a.m. in the Chapel of the Laufersweiler-Sievers Funeral Home. Burial will be in North Lawn Cemetery. Visitation will be on Monday, August 18th from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Survivors include son, Jim (Jeanette) Schwering of Des Moines; daughter, Sandy (Dave) Trammell of Fort Dodge; 5 grandchildren; and 10 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; sister, Betty Terwilliger of Lehigh; and her brother, Darrell Gripenberg and his wife Charlotte of Des Moines. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, William and Hanna (Thompson) Gripenberg; husband, Richard Schwering; and great-great grandson, Zachary; and her brothers, Floyd and Henry Gripenberg. Dorothy Gene Gripenberg was born on April 3, 1927 in Brewster, MN. She was raised and educated in Fort Dodge and graduated from Fort Dodge Senior High School. On April 3, 1948 she was united in marriage to Richard J. Schwering at Corpus Christi Church and they established their home in Fort Dodge. Dorothy enjoyed playing bingo and gambling. She especially enjoyed the time she spent caring for her family and helping with the grandchildren. Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
