Dorothy Thoma

Dorothy M. Thoma, 96, of Fort Dodge, passed away Monday March 24, 2025, at the Bickford Cottages.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:30 PM on Tuesday April 15, 2025, at Holy Trinity Church with Msgr. Kevin McCoy officiating. Burial will follow at Corpus Christi Cemetery. There will be a visitation on Monday April 14, 2025, from 4:00 to 6:00 PM at Laufersweiler Funeral Home.

Dorothy is survived by her son, Thomas, of Fort Dodge. She is preceded in death by her husband, Arthur; parents, Clement and Luella (Sutter) Fitzpatrick; sister, Mary Margo Fitzpatrick, RSM; sisters-in-law, Lois Thoma, Cecelia Witte, Ella Thoma, Gertrude Thoma, and Lucille Heun; and brothers-in-law, Jerome Thoma, Cletus Thoma, Robert Heun, and Thomas Lennon.

Dorothy Maxine Fitzpatrick was born on January 27, 1929, in Emmetsburg, IA. She attended St. Ellen's Grade School and graduated from Emmetsburg High School in 1946. Dorothy then attended Emmetsburg Jr. College; in 1950 she received her RN degree from St. Joseph Mercy School of Nursing in Sioux City. She worked a number of years in the nursing field at various locations. In 1966, she was united in marriage to Arthur G. Thoma at Sacred Heart Church in Fort Dodge. The couple established their home on a farm in Clare. In 1989, they retired from farming and moved to Fort Dodge. She enjoyed volunteer work with the church and being a Eucharistic Minister. Dorothy is a member of Holy Trinity Parish, Catholic Daughters of America, Legion of Mary, and RSVP.
