Dorothy V. Harris, 96, of Fort Dodge passed away Monday, August 16, 2021 in Journeys at Friendship Haven. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, August 20, 2021 at St. Paul Lutheran Church with Rev. Kendall Meyer officiating. A visitation will begin 1 hour prior to the start of the service at the church. Burial in Oakland Cemetery will follow a luncheon being served at the church. Dorothy is survived by her children, Gregg Harris and Kathy Harris Bunda (Marlin Gubbels) both of Fort Dodge; grandchildren, Kris (Holly) Bunda and their children, Ginger, Jack and Max all of Moorland; Kurt Bunda of Rockwell City and his daughter, Kenzie Bunda; Katie Bunda and her son, Nash Heatherington of Fort Dodge; brother, William "Bill" Burger of Palmer, Kansas; sisters-in-law Rhoda Burger, Bernadine Burger and Buenta Burger, as well as 35 nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Karl and Stella (Jacobs) Burger; husband, Roger A. Harris in 2005; and siblings, Erna Schultze, Edna Koch, Elsie Hiesterman, Herman Burger, Edwin Burger, Clarence Burger, Leroy Burger, Mabel Bunday, and Dale Burger. Dorothy Vera Burger was born August 12, 1925 in Clay Center, Kansas. She attended schools south of Clay Center at Four Mile School. She eventually followed 2 of her siblings to the Clare/Fort Dodge area, working for her Uncle Art Jacobs. She met her husband Roger Harris and the two were united in marriage on March 19, 1948. They established their home in Fort Dodge. Dorothy worked as a CNA at Lutheran Hospital and then became a homemaker while raising her children. She loved to paint, read, and do crossword puzzles, especially the Sunday ones. She volunteered countless hours at St. Paul Lutheran Church and Camp Okoboji where she would spend her summers with family. She looked forward to the Burger family reunions. Every day she had a glass of Chardonnay at 4:00 "because it's 5 o'clock somewhere!" Laufersweiler Funeral Home is serving the family. Memorials may be left to S.O.S., St. Paul Lutheran Church, or Camp Okoboji.
