Rockwell City Dortha R. Roske 98, passed away Monday, August 19, 2019 at Accura HealthCare of Pomeroy. Memorial Services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 24, 2019 at St. Pauls Lutheran & Presbyterian Church, Rockwell City, with Pastor James Hoover Mossman officiating. Visitation will be 9:30 a.m. Saturday at the Church until service time. Burial will be at Rosehill Cemetery, Rockwell City. Dortha is survived by her children, Ronald Roske of Altoona, Kathy (Robert) Baker of Lanesboro, and Richard (Theresa) Roske of Twin Lakes; 10 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law Jean Jacobsen of Solon; half sister-in-law Fran Terry of Plain City, UT; and many neieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband Robert; her parents, Cecil and Della VanWegen Hutzell; brother Paul Hutzell; and sisters, Bette Skarin and Joyce Bowman. Dortha R. Hutzell Roske was born January 28, 1921 at Twin Lakes Township, Calhoun Co., Iowa. She attended school through eighth grade at Twin Lakes #5, and graduated from Rockwell City High School, with the Class of 1937. On January 28, 1942 she was united in marriage to Robert William Roske at Jackson, Minnesota. Following Roberts military service in World War II, the couple farmed north of Rockwell City for many years. In 1963, they moved into Rockwell City. Dortha was very active in the community and worked for the Rockwell City Telephone Office, Union State Bank, Todds Clothing, Reed Jewelry, and Helens Hallmark. Robert passed away in 1975. In 2000, Dortha made her home at Sunnyview Independent Living. She was an active member of St. Pauls Lutheran & Presbyterian Church, where she taught Sunday School, served on Church Council, and other various committees. She also was a member of the Rockwell City Lions Club, American Legion Auxiliary, Twin Lakes Community Club, and WELCA.
