Douglas Aden, 69, passed away Sunday, March 16, 2025, at his home.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, March 21, 2025, at Laufersweiler's Palmer-Swank Funeral Home, Rockwell City. Burial will follow at the Crown Hill Cemetery. A visitation will be 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
He is survived by his wife Marianne, children Michael Dettman of Spencer, Melissa Dettman of Sac City, Marty (Sherry) Dettman of Jolley, Shanna Carvalho of Rockwell City, Levi Aden-Dull, grandchildren Allie Meusburger, Trevor Dettman, Shantell Williams, Ashlynn Dettman, Abigal Aden, Damian Carvalho, great-grandchildren Ryker Dettman, Oakley Behrens, siblings Larry Aden, Shelia (Mike) Draves, Cody (Rosemary) Aden, and Kelly Michik.
He was preceded in death by his parents Darrel and Yvonne (Brooks) Aden and son-in-law Harry Carvalho.
Douglas was born October 9, 1955, in Clarion. As a child, his family moved from Clarion to Rinard, then to Jolley in 1964, where they ran a dairy farm. He was educated in Jolley and graduated from Pomeroy High School in 1973. He was married to Rayne Essing and the couple were later divorced. Doug continued to help his family dairy farm in Blue River, Wisconsin. On May 26, 1984, Doug was united in marriage to Marianne Possehn and the couple returned from Wisconsin to Jolley in 1990. Doug was a mechanic and blacksmith throughout his entire life, often working on motorcycles and antique tractors. He served on the Jolley City Council, worked for the Jolley Water Department, and was a volunteer fire fighter. He liked horses and Harley Motorcycles but loved his family, especially his grandkids.
Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
