Douglas E. Willett, 58, of Fort Dodge passed away Saturday, June 10, 2023 at the Paula J. Baber Hospice Home. Funeral services will be held on ( PLEASE NOTE DATE )Thursday, June 22nd at 1:00 PM in the Chapel of the Laufersweiler Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Elkhorn Twp. Cemetery. A visitation will be held on Thursday, June 22nd from 11:00 to 1:00 PM at the funeral home. He is survived by his wife of 36 years Deb of Fort Dodge, daughter Michelle Arends and her husband Brady and their children Hank, Huey, and Annistyn of Otho, IA, mother Wilma Willett of Jefferson, IA, and his sister Pauline Swanson and her husband Marty of Des Moines, IA. He was preceded in death by his dad Paul Willett, and his mother and father-in-law Rosanne and Emmett Ascherl. Douglas Eugene Willett was born on April 10, 1965, in Jefferson. He grew up around Grand Junction area and attended East Green Schools, graduating in 1983. Doug then attended and graduated from Iowa Central Community College where he received his Associate of Arts Degree. On June 20, 1987, he married the love of his life Deb Ascherl and the couple made their home in Fort Dodge. For 10 years, Doug worked at Whink Products Company in Eldora. He was recently employed with Nestle Purina where he started in Quality Assurance and was the Sanitation Manager when he retired due to his health. Doug's grandkids would light up his face every time he was with them. Time with his family was everything. Halloween was his favorite holiday, and he would always dress up and go trick and treating right along with Michelle and later her kids. Doug enjoyed golfing with his friend Andy and the time spent with his Nestle friends. Trips to Sedona, AZ, were great memories the family made, and it was a place Doug loved to visit. He was an avid Iowa Hawkeye, Vikings, and Twins fan. Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
