Edmond R. Law, 84, of Fort Dodge passed away Tuesday, December 17, 2013 at the Paula J. Baber Hospice Home. Funeral services will be Saturday, December 21, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Olaf Lutheran Church with Rev. David Grindberg officiating. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery where there will be Military Rites presented by the U.S. Army Honor Guard. A visitation will be Friday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Laufersweiler-Sievers Funeral Home. Edmond is survived by his wife, Virginia; children, John Law of Fort Dodge; Sandra (James) Batcheller of Fort Dodge; Sherrill (Max) Phillips of Woodward; Susan (Matthew) Maffin of Earlham; grandchildren, Megan Batcheller; Aaron Phillips; Kate Phillips; Madison (Caleb) Taylor; Bryan (Lisa) Porter; Tricia (Brad) Newcomb; great-grandchild, Grace Porter; sister, Lisa (Dan) Rhodes of Tea, SD; sisters-in-law, Genevieve Law of Duncombe and Shirley (Clayton) Evenson of Fort Dodge. He was preceded in death by his parents, Howard and Eleanor (Oberhelman) Law; brother, Mervin Law and sister, Lorraine Jans. Edmond Ray Law was born September 4, 1929 in Manson. He attended schools in Manson, Barnum, and Fort Dodge. He graduated from Fort Dodge Senior High School in 1947. After graduation he farmed with his dad and brother. In 1952, he began serving with the United States Army in Japan until his honorable discharge in 1954. He then returned to farming. On June 15, 1952 he was united in marriage to Virginia Jennings and they established their home on the Law farm. The couple moved to Fort Dodge in 1986 and Edmond retired from farming in 1994. Edmond was a fan of Ford automobiles and John Deere Tractors. Memorials may be left to the Paul J. Baber Hospice Home or St. Olaf Lutheran Church.
