Edward P. Byrne, 63, of Fort Dodge, passed away on Tuesday, April 19, 2016 at his home. A Celebration of Life will be held on Wednesday, April 27th at 10:30 a.m. in the Chapel of the Laufersweiler-Sievers Funeral Home with Rev. Allen Henderson, Pastor of St. Paul Lutheran Church, officiating. The family invites everyone to wear their favorite Green Bay Packers shirt to the celebration. Burial will be in Corpus Christi Cemetery with Military Rites conducted by the V.F.W. Post 1856 and the U.S. Air Force Honor Guard. Visitation will be on Tuesday, April 26th from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Survivors include his wife, Karen Byrne of Fort Dodge; daughter, Stacy (Travis) Wearda of Duncombe; son, Matthew (Kim Peck) of Webster City; step-son, Logan (Amber) Barkhaus of Fort Dodge; step-daughter, Makinzy (Chris) Grady; grandchildren, Alexis, Taylor, Chase, Izaih, Gracie, Emma, Ezrah, Aidin, Evelynn, and one more Byrne baby on the way; brother, Daniel (Diane) Cioffi; sisters, Laurene (Bobby) Ryan; Debra (Johnny) Fanning; Sharon James, and Kelly Defazio. He was preceded in death by his father and step-mother, John and Dorothy Byrne; mother, Lorraine; brothers, Bruce and John Byrne. Edward Patrick Byrne was born on October 27, 1952, in New York, New York. While living in New York, Ed served as a volunteer fireman. In 1970, Ed enlisted with the U.S. Air Force and served as a Medic until his honorable discharge in 1974. During that time, he was united in marriage to Maryann McKee in 1973, and the couple had two children. They were later divorced. Ed worked as an E.M.T. at the Hamilton County Hospital. He also drove truck and was a certified plumber. On April 12, 2003, he was united in marriage to Karen Ayala. The couple established their home in Fort Dodge. Ed worked at Bomgaars until retiring due to being diagnosed with cancer. Ed enjoyed fishing, camping, and was an avid Green Bay Packers fan. The most important thing in his life was his family. In Lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the discretion of the family.
