Eileen Marie Blanchet

Eileen M. Blanchet, 89, of Fort Dodge, passed away Wednesday, January 8, 2014 at her home at Friendship Haven. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 11th at 10:00 a.m. at the Celebration Center at Friendship Haven. Burial will be at Corpus Christi Cemetery. Visitation will be on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. at the Celebration Center. Eileen is survived by her sons, Ron Blanchet and his wife Sue of Fort Dodge and Jack Blanchet and his wife Paulette of Humboldt; daughters, Bonnie Hunstad of Fort Dodge and formerly of Milwaukee, WI area; Jean Erickson and her husband Paul of Storm Lake, IA; and Nancy Howell and her husband Rod of Johnston, IA; sister, Alice Schliske of Fort Dodge; brother-in-law, William Blanchet of Fort Dodge; sisters-in-law, Catherine Van Horn of Ankeny; Joanne Schall of Humboldt; and Emma B. Schall of Cedar Rapids; 2 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren, Steven and Lori Erickson, Kade, Jacob, Carson, Evan, and Isaac. She is preceded in death by her husband, James Blanchet; parents, Frank and Mae (Scanlon) Schall; brothers, Edward, Robert and Gerald Schall; sister, Ruth Nilles, son-in-law, Stan Hunstad. Eileen Marie Schall was born on May 16, 1924 in Pocahontas. She was raised there and graduated from Pocahontas Catholic High School. On June 4, 1945, Eileen was united in marriage to James Blanchet at St. Matthew's Church in Clare. The couple farmed and made their home in the Gilmore City area. Eileen and James retired after forty years of farming in 1986. After retirement, they moved to Fort Dodge. She was a member of St. John's Catholic Church in Gilmore City and Holy Trinity Church in Fort Dodge. Memorials may be left to the Friendship Haven Care Trust Fund.
