Elmer L. "Don" Woodman, 82, of Fort Dodge passed away Wednesday, November 13, 2019 at Fort Dodge Health and Rehabilitation. Funeral services will be 10:30 AM Monday, November 18, 2019 at Laufersweiler-Sievers Funeral Home. Burial will follow at North Lawn Cemetery with military rites by the VFW Post 1856 and the United States Navy Honor Guard. A visitation will be 3:00 to 6:00 PM Sunday at the funeral home. Elmer is survived by his daughter, Carolyn Michaels of Fort Dodge; granddaughter, Megan Woodman of Des Moines and grandson, Aaron Woodman of Fort Dodge; great grandchildren, Myla Terrell and Aryhnnha Kidd; brother, Paul Woodman of Omaha; and sisters, Sharon Dolan of Fort Dodge, Eileen Wash of Estherville, Terri Cox and Melody Stults both of Lampassas, TX. He was preceded in death by his parents, Don and Dorothy (Tague) Woodman; wife, Carolyn "Tootie" Woodman and daughter and son-in-law, Marcy (Robert) Lara. Elmer Lee Woodman was born March 4, 1937 in Fort Dodge. He attended Fort Dodge Public Schools. In 1954, he enlisted in the US Navy. Upon his honorable discharge in 1957, Don returned to Fort Dodge. On August 31, 1958 he was united in marriage to Carolyn Anderson and the couple made their home in Fort Dodge. Don worked for Umthun Trucking Company for over 40 years and McGough Construction for over 13 years before retiring in 2014. Don enjoyed fishing, playing cards, but most of all driving trucks. Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
