Emily Ruth McAnally, 98, of Fort Dodge passed away on Wednesday, March 31, 2021 at Friendship Haven. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 10, 2021 at Saint Paul Lutheran Church with Pastor Kendall Meyer officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior at the church. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery near Rockwell City. Masks and social distancing required. Laufersweiler Funeral Home is serving the family. Emily Ruth Hansch, the Daughter of Emil and Velma Telschaw Hansch was born on the family farm near Duncombe in 1923. She attended the public and parochial schools and was a graduate of the American School in Chicago. She also attended the Commercial Extension College in Omaha. For a time, she was employed at McLellans in Fort Dodge. In 1942, she was united in marriage to Thomas Helferich. He lost his life while serving in the submarine service in World War II. In 1947, she was united in marriage to Thomas McAnally in Rockwell City. Emily is survived by her sons, Michael (Denise), William (Donna) McAnally both of Fort Dodge; grandchildren, Sherry (Brian) Schwint, Jenna (Terry) Engel, Lynn (Jon) Bellows, Caitlin (Jason) White; step-grandchild, Inhyun Hanrahan; eleven great-grandchildren; three step-great-grandchildren; five great-great grandchildren; sister-in-laws, Lois Hansch and Diane Hansch Lenning. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Thomas Helferich lost during WWII; husband, Thomas McAnnally in 1994; brothers, Gilbert, Gordon Hansch; grandson, Timothy McAnally; a great-great grandson, and step-grandson, MSgt. Craig Hanrahan. Emily was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, the Woman of St. Paul, and LWML (Lutheran Woman Missionary League). She served as chairman and co-chairman on several committees. She loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She had numerous hobbies which included, bird watching, word search puzzles, and listening to country and gospel music. Memorials may be left to Lutheran Family Services or LWML at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Fort Dodge. Services will be livestreamed via St. Paul Lutheran Church's Youtube and Facebook pages.
