Emma Reynoso, age eighty-two, peacefully passed away on March 26th in Fort Dodge, Iowa. Now that her Earthly purpose is fulfilled, she will be re-joining those who anxiously await her in the eternal home Jesus promised to all who loved and served Him faithfully. She was born in Sonora, Mexico on December 11, 1935. At the age of six, her mother died of cancer, leaving Emma and her two siblings in the care of her loving father and aunts. They spent their time walking to their father's store to help themselves to the candy jar and enjoyed their warm summers cracking clams in Keno Bay. When Emma turned 18, she met a young Korean war veteran, Rudy Reynoso, and they were introduced by Emma's aunt and Rudy's mother. They fell in love and married a year later. The two settled in Irvine, CA in 1971 to raise their seven children, Tommy, Ron, Roger, Terry, Leticia, Matthew, and Norah. While Rudy was employed as an accountant and small business owner, Emma spent her days as a nurturing homemaker as well as a routine attendee of daily mass. In addition to serving her family and the Catholic Church, Emma enjoyed playing tennis, going for walks, and cooking for her Spanish club of which her children were the beneficiaries of her trial menus. She, Rudy, and their eldest son, Tommy, retired to Fort Dodge, Iowa in 2003 where she spent her remaining days praying the Rosary, partaking in Bible studies, being a Eucharistic Minister, teaching RCIA, being a Spanish-English interpreter for her church, hospital, and legal system and spending time with family. She was a daughter of the Catholic Daughters of America, Third Order Franciscan and a member of the Legion of Mary. Emma is survived by her 6 children, 10 grandchildren, and 6 great-grandchildren. To her loved ones, she was Mom, caretaker, counselor, chef, cheerleader, school-bus driver, personal tailor, teacher, and beloved Grandma. She guided, coached, encouraged and loved her children and grandchildren with steadfast passion. She exemplified the opening lines of Mary's canticle, the Magnificat "My soul doth magnify the Lord and my Spirit rejoices in God my Saviour." Her grace and beauty will be missed profoundly by family and friends.
