Eric T. Halverson, 48, of Fort Dodge passed away Friday, July 26, 2019 at the Marian Home after a courageous battle with cancer. Funeral services will be 10:00 am Thursday August 1, 2019 at Laufersweiler Funeral Home and 10:30 am at Sacred Heart Church with Msgr. Kevin McCoy officiating the Mass of Christian Burial. Burial will follow in Corpus Christi Cemetery. A visitation will be on Wednesday from 3:00 to 7:00 pm with a Vigil Prayer Service at 2:45 PM all at Laufersweiler Funeral Home. Eric is survived by his wife Angie (Durschmidt) Halverson and daughters, Madysen and Mackenzie Halverson all of Fort Dodge, his mother, Sharon (Walters) Halverson of Elkader, brothers, Kyle (Kathy) Halverson of Waukon and Kevin Halverson of Omaha, his sister Missy (Zach) Bonnette of Elkader, 4 nieces Lynsey Mellick, Graysen Halverson, Emmaly Durschmidt, Alyssa Durschmidt, 2 nephews Shane Halverson and Trey Bonnette, brother and sister-in-law Jason (Jenny) Durschmidt; and his mother and father-in-law Kathy and Keith Durschmidt of Fort Dodge He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Halverson. Eric Thomas Halverson was born July 7, 1971, in Iowa City. He attended Central Community Schools in Elkader and graduated from high school in 1990. He received his Associates Degree in Healthcare Administration from DMACC and then graduated cum laude from Upper Iowa University with his Bachelors in Business Management in 1994. After graduating, Eric began to work for ABCM Corporation. On December 16, 2000, he was united in marriage to Angie Durschmidt in Humboldt. The couple eventually made their home in Fort Dodge where he became the Executive Director of The Marian Home and Village. Eric was awarded an Eagle Scout Award and an "Outstanding Service to Residents Award" with ABCM Corp. He was a member of the Greater Growth Alliance, Rotary Board, Young Professionals, Kidzone Board, Meals on Wheels Board, and Holy Trinity Parish. He was an avid Iowa Hawkeyes and Green Bay Packers Fan. Eric enjoyed family vacations to Jamaica and St. Martens. He especially enjoyed fishing with his father-in-law Keith, his car rides to appointments with his mother-in-law Kathy, and most importantly spending time with his whole world his daughters.
