Esther Moon

Esther V. Moon, 72, of Fort Dodge passed away Saturday, November 10, 2018 at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines. A visitation will be 4:00 to 7:00 pm Friday, November 16, 2018 with a prayer service to be held at 7:00 pm at Laufersweiler-Sievers Funeral Home. Esther is survived by her daughter, Tiffany (Daniel) Smith; four grandchildren, Kaitlynn, Illyssa, Angelyn, Halle, Austin; and sister, Dorothy (Del) Tabbert of Fort Dodge; nephew, Troy (Jenny) Tabbert of West Des Moines; niece, Toni Tabbert of Fort Dodge; great-nephew, Christian and great-niece, Amara. She was preceded in death by her parents, Michael and Sallie Dorothy (Lynn) Waszko, and a husband, Gary Moon. Esther Veronica Waszko was born on June 18, 1946 in Hackensack, NJ. As a young child she moved to Fort Dodge where she attended St. Paul Lutheran Schools and graduated from Fort Dodge Senior High School in 1964. She then attended Tobin Business College. On September 25, 1980 she was united in marriage to Gary Moon in Sioux Falls, SD. The couple established their home in Fort Dodge. Esther was employed by the Boston Store, the Chamber of Commerce, and then the administrative offices for Fort Dodge Public Schools. Esther then worked for Doc Thomas at the Fort Dodge Animal Hospital. She was member of the Fort Dodge Lanciers and Drum and Bugle Corps. Esther enjoyed horses and had a special love for all animals. Memorials may be left or mailed to the funeral home to the discretion of the family.
