Manson Ethel L. Howrey 95, passed away Sunday, February 28, 2021 at the Paula J. Baber Hospice Home, Fort Dodge. Memorial Services will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, May 15, 2021 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Manson with Pastor Peter Rosenqvist and Marlene Nimke officiating. A Visitation will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday, May 15, at the Church until service time. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery, Fort Dodge. **Masks are strongly urged. The Services will be Live Streamed on the Palmer & Swank Funeral Home FaceBook Page. Palmer & Swank Funeral Home, Rockwell City is serving the family. Ethel is survived by her son Lennis (Treva) Howrey of Manson; daughter Mary Gliem of Windsor Heights; two grandchildren, Jodie (Randy) Sarchet of Valley Springs, South Dakota and Heather (Matt) Meehan of Madison, South Dakota; seven great-grandchildren, Karley, Kaleb, Kalyn, Kegan, Kooper, Olivia, and Alaina; brothers, Wilfred Nimke of Manson, Phillip (Jean) Nimke of Port Angeles, Washington; sisters, Leora (Gene) Brown of Webster City and Lorraine (Kenny) Rock of Penfield, New York; and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband Leonard; parents, William and Anna (Theen) Nimke; stepmother Phyllis Nimke; and brother Marvin Nimke. Ethel Lorraine Nimke Howrey was born May 2, 1925 at Fort Dodge, Iowa. She graduated from Barnum High School, with the Class of 1942. On April 21, 1946 she was united in marriage to Leonard Howrey at Fort Dodge. The couple farmed near of Rockwell City. In 1958, they moved to a farm southeast of Manson. The couple retired in 1985 from farming and moved into Manson. Leonard passed away in 2013. In 2011, Ethel became a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Manson and was a past member of St. Pauls Lutheran & Presbyterian Church, Rockwell City. Ethel enjoyed her flowers, gardening, sewing, and making quilts for Lutheran World Relief. She also enjoyed volunteering at Good Samaritan Society and morning coffees with friends.
