Eugene Francis Trexler

Eugene F. Trexler Sr., 79, of Fort Dodge passed away Wednesday, October 2, 2013 at the Fort Dodge Villa Care Center. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, October 5, 2013 at Laufersweiler-Sievers Funeral Home with Msgr. Kevin McCoy officiating. Burial will follow at North Lawn Cemetery where there will be Military Rites presented by the VFW Post 1856. A visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. TODAY at the funeral home. Eugene Sr. is survived by his sons, Eugene Trexler Jr. and and John Trexler both of Fort Dodge; daughter, Theresa (Tim) Wolter of Badger; four grandchildren, Jeanie (Buck) Trexler; Chris Wolter; Brian Trexler; Cortney Wolter; five great-grandchildren; brother, Bob Trexler of Arkansas and sister-in-law, Shirley Trexler of Pennsylvania. He was preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Mary (Kaza) Trexler; wife, Violet in 2001; step-mother, Hazel Trexler; brother, Bill Trexler; and daughter-in-law, Diane Trexler in 2011. Eugene Francis Trexler Sr. was born on June 21, 1934 in Johnston, Pennsylvania, where he attended schools. In 1952 he entered into the United States Air Force. He served until his honorable discharge in 1957. On January 6, 1958 Eugene was united in marriage to Violet Henry in Pennsylvania. He attended welding school in Pennsylvania. The couple later moved to Arizona where Eugene attended drafting college. The couple eventually established their home in Fort Dodge. Eugene worked as welder for USG from March 13, 1984 until his retirement on July 1, 1999. He enjoyed bowling, wood carving, photography, and collecting coins. Most of all Gene loved spending time with his family. Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
