Rockwell City Eunice Brand 97, formerly of Farnhamville, passed away Tuesday, August 11, 2020 at Paula J. Baber Hospice Home, Fort Dodge. Funeral Services will be 10:30 A.M. Monday, August 17, 2020 at the Palmer & Swank Funeral Home, Rockwell City, with Pastor Anita Bane officiating. Burial will be at Greenfield Township Cemetery, Knierim. Visitation will be 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 16, at the funeral home. Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family. Eunice is survived by her daughters, Charlotte (Jack) Johnson of Schleswig, and Vicki (Stephen) Kail of Littleton, CO; grandchildren, Jim (Sherry) Johnson, Randall (Jenny)Johnson, Brian (Rebecca) Johnson, Grant (Jamie) Kail, and Lisa (Wes) Witt; great-grandchildren, Matt (Maureen) Johnson, Jared Johnson, Lilia Johnson, Cole Johnson, Braeden Johnson, Lauren Johnson, Lucas Kail, Isaac Witt; step-grandchildren, Robert Jepsen, Marisa Jepsen, and Camille Jepsen; sister Elgene Howard of Rockwell City; sister-in-law Donna Brand of Fort Dodge; and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband Richard; parents, Edward and Elta (Sommerfeld) Alwes; sister Erma (Edwin) Davis; brothers, Elvin (Celia) Alwes, Elmore (Mary) Alwes; sister and brother-in-law, Maxine and Elbert Gallentine; brothers-in-law, Jim Howard and Roger Brand; and mother and father-in-law, Ora and Elwood Brand. Eunice Amelia Alwes Brand was born April 7, 1923 at Richards, Iowa. She graduated from Rinard High School with the Class of 1941. Eunice was baptized and confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church, east of Rockwell City. On October 18, 1942 she was united in marriage to Richard E. Brand at her parents farm near Rinard. The couple farmed in the Somers area. In 1968, they moved to Farnhamville where Eunice worked for Goodwin Insurance for several years. She was one of the original leaders of the Cedar-Greenfield Cloverettes 4-H Club. Eunice was a member of the Somers Methodist Church in Somers where she taught Sunday School and Bible School for several years. Richard passed away in 1991. In 2018, Eunice made her home at Sunnyview Independent Living in Rockwell City. She will be remembered as "Aunt Niece" by many nephews and nieces, and as a good friend by those she came in contact with.
