Evelyn Ann Dowd, 90, of Fort Dodge, passed away on Tuesday, June 27, 2017, at the Paula J. Baber Hospice Home. Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 30, 2017 at 10:30 AM at Corpus Christi Church, 402 North 8th Street, Fort Dodge, IA; with Msgr. Kevin McCoy officiating the Mass of Christian Burial. Visitation will be on Friday from 9:30 AM till the time of the services at the church. Laufersweiler-Sievers Funeral Home is serving the family. Survivors include her sons, Bernie Dowd of Des Moines; William (Bill) Dowd and his wife, Michelle of Fort Dodge; daughter, Jeanie Flattery and her husband, Michael of West Des Moines; three grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Earl and Veronica (Martin) Anderson; two infant children; husband, John; sisters, Mary Worsham and Margaret O'Daniel. Evelyn Ann Anderson was born on December 21, 1926 in Salem, OR. She was raised and educated in Salem until her family relocated back to Fort Dodge in 1944. Evelyn graduated from Corpus Christi High School in 1946. On January 19, 1948, she was united in marriage to John Dowd at Corpus Christi Church. They established their home in Fort Dodge. After raising her family, Evelyn worked for House of Williams for several years. She was a member of Holy Trinity Parish, Fort Dodge Women's Club and several card clubs. Evelyn truly enjoyed playing cards, sewing and reading. Memorials may be left to Fort Dodge Catholic Schools or the discretion of the family.
