Evelyn E Tornabane

Evelyn E. Tornabane, 97, a longtime resident of Fort Dodge, died on Friday, June 30, 2017 at Woodlands Creek Senior Living Community in Clive, IA. Funeral services will be held at 11:30 AM on Friday, July 7, 2017, at Corpus Christi Church, with Msgr. Kevin McCoy, officiating the Mass of Christian Burial. Visitation will be on Friday beginning at 10:00 AM at Laufersweiler-Sievers Funeral Home. Evelyn is survived by her children, James (Ann) of Urbandale, David of Dolan Springs AZ and Karen Mose (Douglas) of Washington, CT, along with 7 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. Also surviving her is sister-in-law, Margaret Sailer of Rock Island, IL, and her beloved nieces and nephews. Born Evelyn Elizabeth Capesius on December 10, 1919 to Frank and Katherine Capesius in Algona, she graduated from St. Cecelia's Academy in 1937 and married James Tornabane of Fort Dodge in 1938 where the couple established their home. James passed away in 1996 after 57 years of marriage. She was a member of Corpus Christi Parish and a 50-year member of the Catholic Daughters of America. Evelyn worked for 25 years in the admitting department at Trinity Regional Hospital. She had a great love for family and cherished her time with them. She also loved a good game of cards and socializing with her friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and an infant son, and by sisters, Irene Hurley and Mildred Winkel and brother Dr. E.J. Capesius. Memorials will be at the discretion of family.
