Evelyn Schuster

Evelyn Schuster, 95, of Fort Dodge, passed away on Sunday, November 15th, 2020 at Trinity Regional Medical Center. Private family services will be held on Saturday at 10:30 AM Laufersweiler Funeral Home with Msgr. Kevin McCoy officiating. Burial will follow at North Lawn Cemetery. Evelyn is survived by her children, Larry (Georgie) Schuster of Cedar Rapids, Gary (Karen) Schuster of Urbandale, Janene (Pat) Gentile of Fort Dodge, and Steve Schuster (Sara Altemeier) of Ankeny; 10 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Verner and Gladys (Tomlinson) Johnson; husband, Edward Schuster in 1992; and grandson, Jeff Thomas. Evelyn Ruby Johnson was born April 3, 1925 in Gowrie. She attended area schools and graduated from Burnside High School in 1942. She then attended AIB. On April 13, 1944 she was united in marriage to Edward Schuster. The couple made their home in Fort Dodge. She worked as a bookkeeper for several businesses including, Goodyear, Sears and Paul Electric where she retired from in 1987 after working there for 25 years. She was a member of Corpus Christi Church. She was involved in the VFW Auxiliary and enjoyed playing BINGO and cards with her friends at the Senior Center. She also enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She was very proud of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Memorials may be left to family discretion.
