Everett J. Hade

Gowrie Everett J. Hade 94, was ushered into the arms of his loving Lord and Savior on Friday, October 9, 2020 in Fort Dodge. Private Family Funeral Services will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 14, 2020 at Zion Lutheran Church, Gowrie, with Pastor Jim Davis officiating. Burial of casket will be at Gowrie Township Cemetery, with Military Flag Presentation conducted by American Legion Peterson Post #431 of Gowrie. A Public Visitation will be 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 14, until service time. Palmer Funeral Home, Gowrie is in charge of arrangements. He is survived by his wife Joyce; daughters, Carol Hade, Maxine Hade, and Sandra Hade, all of Gowrie; son Timothy Hade of Ft. Collins, CO; grandson Joel Hade of Ft. Collins, CO; brother Richard (Darlene) Hade of Ames; sister Evelyn Whitehill of Bellevue, NE; and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clemens and Esther (Swanson) Hade; brothers, Arnold and Vincent Hade; son Joel Allyn; and daughter Esther. Everett Joel Hade was born February 1, 1926 at Harcourt, Iowa and was raised on a farm near Gowrie. He graduated from Gowrie High School, with the Class of 1944. On February 22, 1945, Everett was drafted into the United States Army during World War II, where he served in the Philippine Islands as a cook. He spent the remainder of his military service in the post occupation Japan where he made several Japanese friends. He was honorably discharged on November 29, 1946. Everett met Joyce Johnson on a blind date in August of 1950. They were united in marriage on February 3, 1952 and celebrated 68 years together. Everett spent many years as a cattle herdsman before moving to Gowrie where he worked at Farmers COOP Elevator as a truck driver. He retired in 1988. Everetts specialties were making Swedish rye bread and Christmas cookies. He loved gospel and country music, and western books and movies. He was an active member of Zion Lutheran Church and the Church Choir. Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
